It's My Life. I try to update often. But lets face it, my life isn't that interesting.
My only friend, the end. 07/17/07
Well I'm done. This is the longest I've managed to keep a website going, and I feel pretty proud of that. But I'm tired. And depressed. Too tired and depressed to keep it going. My life has taken a weird turn, and I don't think it shall ever fully recover. As for Inadvertently Productive, I find no joy in creating the comic anymore. So this is the end of The Minimalist Worldwide Analysis. We will remain online for a short time with no new updates, but I expect to delete the entire site by the end of August. Thank you all for your loyal support. Goodbye.
It's Comiclicious! 07/11/07
Well well well! I've reached my goal of 52 comics, as well as 1500 hits by the 11th. Looking back, I realize that the 6th was the actual anniversary of the MWA's inception, but the 11th was when things started happening. So I think we'll keep it there. And what a year it's been!
I slept in today and basically got told not to come to work. How dumb am I?
P.S. Transformers is the best movie of the year. Hands down. It even beats POTC3. Yeah I said it.
Revenge of the Nerds? 07/05/07
Well first off, a belated Happy Independence Day to our American friends (who make up 22% of our audience). Hope y'all enjoyed yourselves.
Second, a new comic is now online, check it out.
Thirdley (thirdley eh?) our thoughts go out to the families of the 6 Canadian soldiers who were killed in action yesterday. We won't forget.
Fourth on the docket, I bought Krusty-Os and Buzz Cola last night. I have yet to taste the cereal, though I'm told it's just Fruit-Loops. As for the cola, it tastes like cola. My roommate insists it's Pepsi, but I disagree.
And last, probably least... is it just me or are we nerds totally taking over? I've noticed that recently, it has become hip to be square. Just take a look at TV shows and all the internet goings on. You'll see what I mean.
P.S. This guy linked to the MWA quite some time ago, so here's getting back at him. It's in Swedish, so get a translator. Unless you're Swedish. Which apparently only 0.13% of you are.
Le Jour de la Confédération 07/01/07
Happy Canada Day! Happy Dominion Day to the traditionalists! To celebrate this our holiest of days, I present to you a special Canada Day comic! This also marks the 50th episode of IP, so I'm well on my way to my goal of 52 Comics by the 11th of July. Now If only I could get the number of hits to reach 1500 by then, I'd be swimming.
Whilst rummaging around Wikipedia for information for today's comic, I came across the Anglo-Saxon Language page for Canada. Now I don't speak Anglo-Saxon, but as far as I could tell the entire article was basically "Canada is a country in North America. It's Population is 32 Million." and then some basic facts like who our queen is and such. This did, however, lead me to the Anglo-Saxon page for our national anthem, which was significantly more detailed. I shall share with you now the Anglo-Saxon version of O Canada.
O Canada! Ure hām and eardland!
Trēowfæst cynisc lufu in eallum þīnum sunum bann!
Mid beorhte heortan wē sēoþ þīne ūpgange,
Se trēow Norþ strang and frēo!
Fram feorre and wīde, O Canada,
Wē standaþ tō warienne for þēc.
God bewarþ ure land þrymlice and frēo!
O Canada, wē standaþ tō warienne for þēc.
O Canada, wē standaþ tō warienne for þēc.
Try singing that at today's festivities...
Any ways, I'm off to enjoy the day. Have fun today kids!
Edit: Don't forget to check out the MWA CafePress store!
Faaaantastic!!! 06/27/07
Rest In Peace, Chris Benoit. People may judge you for what you've done, but where you're going they don't judge, and I really hope you can find peace there.
In other celebrity news, She Who We Do Not Speak of is out of jail... I refuse to print her name here, and the only reason I bring it up is to express my distaste of the whole fiasco. I don't hate her, as she is a product of rich parents and a celeb obsessed culture. I just hope that she does something of some relevance with her life now. Doubt it.
Got a new comic online. I know! A new one! Already! Also, go check out the new MWA CafePress Store, where you can buy a "Hot Like A Pirate" T-Shirt of your very own!
Car Crash 06/24/07
I'm making an attempt to listen to every album I own, which should only take me a few months. Found a few old gems I'd forgoten about entirely, so that's pretty cool.
After some technical difficulty, a new comic is now online. I'm pushing to finish another 4 before July 11th. Then I can claim to have averaged one comic a week. Heheheh.
You may have noticed, as I have, that I rarely discuss politics here anymore. Is it because I don't care? Yes. Well, not entirely. I just find it hard to pay attention to all the bullsh*t, when none of it really matters. I'm mad that the Liberals are pushing the conservatives to pull our soldiers out of Afghanistan, when they are the jerks who sent them there in the firstplace. I'm pleased that Stephen Harper has promised not to extend the operation past 2009 if the people vote against it. As for the rest of Canadian politics, who really cares? RCMP overtime scandal? I don't even have a clue what thats all about. The sponsorship scandal? So yesterday! Ed Stelmach is wearing a cowboy hat in an attempt to get Calgarians to like him? He was a dork before he put the hat on. Belinda Stronach had a breast removed? That's not even politics!
Ah well. I'm off to work on another comic. Later kids.
PURPLE! 06/17/07
You may have noticed the changes to the site. If not, you're clearly blind. So how do you like it? There might be a few more minor tweaks, but this is pretty much what the MWA will look like until I get bored with it.
I've also made some adjustments to the Other Stuff section, and added this photo of my roommate Jake. Don't follow that link if you don't like pictures of men in leather pants grabbing themselves.
New comic is online too, by the by.
I mentioned in my last update that I'd bought The Arcade Fire's Funeral and that it was good. "Good" is actually an understatement. After listening to it for real I've decided it's one of the best albums ever. Why I didn't buy it when it came out 3 years ago I don't know. My favourite track is probably Crown of Love, which makes me want to cry everytime I hear it, but there's not really a song on the CD that I don't like.
However.
I also mentioned that I'd bought Fall Out Boy's Infinity on High and said it was good. Good is not an understatement, because after listening to it for real I decided it's actually not so great. Not total crap, but not nearly as good as their last album.
Thats it thats all, so check back soon for more news and updates.
Ka-CHING!!! 06/12/07
I have buyer's remorse. I bought a new DC hoodie (to replace the beloved Zero hoodie), 2 albums (Fall Out Boy's Infinity on High , and The Arcade Fire's Funeral, both of which are good), and a book (Uncle John's Gigantic Bathroom Reader. It's like 750 pages of useless information, perfect for those long sessions.) all to the tune of $150. Will I take any of it back? Not bloody likely.
Anyhoo, keep watching for updates. Something has to happen eventually. And hey, I still update more than Maddox.
Quack! 06/07/07
I HATE THIS MAN
I'm not mad that the ducks won. They clearly deserved it. I'm just mad that "Christ" Pronger got to hoist the cup before the dozens of other players who deserved it more. Take, for instance, Ryan Smyth (not trying to beat a dead horse here), who played with the same club for 12 years without winning the cup. Pronger should be suspended indefinitely, for breach of contract. It was, however, nice to see ol' Niedermeyer hoist the cup again. So congrats Ducks and good effort Senators. Hopefully another Canadian team will make it to the finals next season and not lose. For once. Maybe the Oilers, even, if that's not too much to ask.
P.S. - Never trust a man who's neck is wider than his head.
Drink Up, Me Hearties, Yoho!!! 05/26/07
Guess what movie I saw in the theater last night... For those of you who are retarded, it was Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. Generally I'm pleased, and I'll tell you why.
Those of you who haven't seen it should stop reading Now!
Overall it was a good movie. The story was good (and not too terribly hard to follow). Those who were expecting the rollicking fun of the first (and even second) film will be deeply dissappointed. There are funny bits, of course, but it was also a lot darker, and had much more of an emotional impact on me than the previous films. The song the condemned pirates sing at the beginning actually gave me chills. The effects were good, though nothing too new or exciting in that respect. Captain Jack was actually a better character in this film than the last (I found him somewhat overdone and annoying in Dead Man's Chest). There was quite a lot of exploration into his character, sort of a glimpse at why Captain Jack is... well, Captain Jack. Geoffrey Rush must have been born to play a pirate, because his Barbossa was probably my favourite character in the film. He plays the part with a mix of insanity and cunning that make the perfect pirate (and the "What Arrrrrr you doing?!" was excellent and I laughed my ass off.) I even liked Wil Turner and Elizabeth Swan in this movie. It may have been due to the fact that their screen time was blessedly short, something that unfortunately happened to all of the characters, even the good ones (one of the few marks against the script). The inclusion of Keith Richards as Captain Teague, Jack's father, also went over better than I expected (except for the morons sitting behind me making a racket so I couldn't hear what he was mumbling).
As for what I didn't like about the film... well it was long. I know it was a complicated plot, and there was only one part where I got bored, but as Hitchcock said "The length of a film should never exceed the capacity of the human bladder." And what was the deal with Calypso? The whole turning-into-a-giantess-with-a-manvoice-and-dissappearing made no sense to me at all and almost seemed to have no place in the movie. All of the badguys were kind of made redundant by eachother. Cutler Beckett and his flunky, Davy Jones (who I still loved in this film, don't get me wrong), the turncoat Norrington, Sao Pheng, and all the pirates back-stabbing eachother, it was too much. Also the marriage/battle angered me, except for Barbossa of course. But that's really all I had to complain about.
- Okay you can start reading again.**
So like I said, a good movie, and you should really go see it. I will probably go see it a second time in theater, same as the other films, and I'll definitely be buying it when it comes out on DVD.
That's all I have to report for now. Stay tuned, though, for further updates on my exciting life and news about IP.
Oooh, shiny 05/22/07
A new comic is online, so do me a favour and go check it out. The email me and tell me how much you love it, and all my comics. Then buy me things.
Go Sens Go!!! 05/19/07
Congrats to the Ottawa Senators on beating the Buffalo Sabres and winning the Eastern Conference Finals. Now bring home the cup!
Saw Spider-Man 3 tonight, and was rather dissappointed. Too much acting and crying. Not enough Spider-Maning.
Not much else new to report, but I am half-heartedly working on revisions for Inadvertently Productive. So look foreward to some fancy new comics in the future. Don't look too hard, like I said, it's half-hearted.
So while you're waiting for me to do something, check out the crazy cats at Lackadaisy by Tracy J. Butler. This lady can draw folks, for serious.
Book Face 04/29/07
Well since my life has slowed down somewhat, and things are a bit more in order, I decided it was time to get things back on track. So with no further ado, go read the new comic. Its nothing special, but it's a start back on the path to regular comic updates. The Other Stuff page also has some content, if you didn't notice before, so go have a look-see.
I'm working full time at the Funeral Home, having a pretty good time of it too. We've been busy, morbid as that sounds, so I've been learning a lot. I'm also working on getting my driver's license, embarrasing as that is at 21, but it's coming along pretty good as well.
Also, I decided to join up with Facebook finally, so go check me out there. Its not as great as everyone says it is, but it's still better than that accursed Myspace.
But thats all thats going on here, I plan on resuming a (somewhat) more regular update schedule, so keep checking back. Maybe I'll actually have something interesting to say.
03/25/07
Hey kids. Just wanted to update and let you all know I'm still around, just busy as hell. This working two jobs is killing me, but the good news is that they want me full time at the Funeral Home, so I'm quitting de udder jarb.
Anyhow, I'm making some changes here at the site so be sure to check out the Other Stuff page. Not much there right now but it will improve. Also, expect to see the return of Inadvertently Productive sometime before the end of April.
Sacred Bovine! 03/11/07
Holy Cow! Have I got a tale for you! As some of you may know I've been wanting to get into the Funeral business for quite some time now. So I've been working on meeting the requirements to go to college for like the past 2 years. When I finally went to apply, it turns out they changed the requirements!!! So I need to get 14-20 hours of volunteer experience in a funeral home, and the application deadline is at the end of March! Needless to say, I started freaking out. But this is what I want to do, so I'm going to do it. So I went to the funeral director in town and practically begged him to let me have the volunteer hours before the end of the month so I could still apply for college. And then...
He offered me a job.
I've been flying ever since. It's like a huge weight has been taken off of my shoulders. For serious, I havent been this happy in years. I get to do what I want without leaving my hometown, and I get payed to do it! My official apprenticeship won't start until september, so I'll just be a shop boy until then; cleaning, helping with cremations, driving the various vehicles (once I get my driver's). But this is still a huge step in the right direction.
*contended sigh*
Sometimes things do work out.
Time Out 03/03/07
Well things have calmed down somewhat now. I'm still upset about the trade, I've cried twice about it in the past 3 days. I don't think I'll be able to watch the Oilers anymore, I feel very betrayed. But I'm glad to know that Ryan Smyth has been welcomed by the NY Islanders and their fans. I'm sure he knows he has all of the support of his fans at home. And Kevin Lowe should not go die, though he's still an Ass Hat.
There are. however, some issues I'd like to address, about the whole situation.
- People who are saying that Ryan Smyth is greedy and thats why he got fired, look at it this way; we all know it's bullshit that people get payed millions to play a game. However, it is the life that these guys are used to, same as you're used to your $20,000 a year or whatever you make. The man played for a hometown discount for years, and as soon as he asked for a little extra he got the trade. Well how would you feel if you asked for $25,000 and got fired after 12 years of loyal service?
- Those who are saying Ryan Smyth wanted the trade, I ask you; does this look like a man who wanted to leave Edmonton?
- And to those who are saying 'take the emotion out of it for a minute' or 'it was just a business deal' well you can just go screw yourselves. If there was no emotion I wouldn't have watched the game in the first place, I'd go play NHL 2k7. Wherever humans are involved theres going to be emotion, and I pity the poor sucker who doesn't feel some emotion when his favourite player gets traded.
- Peter Pocklington supported the trade. WOW! Thanks Puck, that makes me feel a lot better, you Gretzky trading scab!
I think the main reason this whole deal has me so upset, other than that Smyth is my favourite player, is what it has revealed to me. Loyalty and hard work will never be as important as money. I have to ask myself if this is the kind of world I want my children to grow up in.
Well, its 7AM and I've got work today so I better wrap this up. We're gonna miss you Smytty, but you'll allways have our support. You're allways gonna be Captain Canada to us, no matter where you play. It's gonna be cold up here without you though, I heard something on the radio about -94
Farewell to Smitty 02/27/07
Kevin Lowe should go die.
Ranch! 02/21/07
Okay, seriously, I can't be the only one who noticed the similarities between AFI's Love Like Winter video, and the video for Evanescences's Lithium. Like, holy crap kids. Is there no one in music land to make sure these things don't happen?
Anyways. Not much goin' on, been workin' all day for me money, etc. Maybe have a comic by the end of the month. Later!
P.S. There were two different movies on TV last night starring Barbera Streisand. My head almost asploded.
Update Schmupdate 02/15/07
Don't you hate it when people just all of a sudden stop updating their websites without warning? Yeah I'm pretty pissed off at me too.
Sorry. From now on comics and updates are just going to happen when I feel like it. The comic was going places that I don't really have the drive to take it anymore. I might continue with where it was going, but I might just take it somewhere else entirely.
At any rate, I'm not closing up shop just yet. I pay for this website, dammit, so I'm going to keep it. But when I do shut 'er down, I'll at least have the decency to tell you, not like that jerk Maddox.
P.S. Don't tell Maddox I said that, he'll eat me for breakfast. Besides, I'm sure he'll update again some year.
P.P.S. Who's stealing whose look now? Huh? Seriosuly, I doubt Jeph Jaques even knows my Comic exists, and chinstraps are pretty awesome. Ahem.
Woe is me... 02/02/07
Well I've got some good news, and I got some bad news. The good news is I have a new, slightly less crappy job. The bad news is that I will probably be working a lot of night shifts, and sleeping all day. Therefore, I'm going to have no time to work on comics. So regretfully, I can only do one comic a week. Comics will now be posted on thursdays. Apologies to my loyal fans, all 10 of you.
Other than that I really have nothing to report, so I'll see y'all around.
Mah Brahyn, shee is moosh! 1/29/07
So I realised I haven't updated in like 4 days, so I came on here to do that. Then I realised I didn't have a comic ready for tomorrow. So you'll have to wait for a real update until wednesday, probably.
